Precision Systems, Inc. (PSI) led the citywide pavement marking asset management for Washington, DC’s 2,100 lane-mile roadway network. PSI’s responsibilities included data collection, inventory database development, and performance evaluation of pavement markings, with a focus on retroreflectivity and condition assessment.

PSI merged historical retroreflectivity data with physical condition datasets to track deterioration over time, enhancing QA/QC processes and ensuring consistency in maintenance decisions. This analysis supported the development of lifecycle deterioration models, enabling performance-based planning and risk-informed prioritization.

These insights informed DC’s long-term budgeting, maintenance strategies, and asset management planning, ensuring visibility and safety across the city’s roadway network.
