Union Station & Columbus Circle Traffic Signal and Lighting Redesign | Washington, DC

Precision Systems, Inc. (PSI) led the redesign of traffic signal and street lighting systems at Columbus Circle, a critical transportation hub located in front of Union Station in Washington, DC. This high-profile project required close coordination with multiple federal and local stakeholders, including the National Park Service (NPS), Architect of the Capitol (AOC), District Department of Transportation (DDOT), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
PSI developed a comprehensive electrical system design to power the new signals and lighting infrastructure, enhancing traffic control and pedestrian safety in this highly trafficked area. In collaboration with the civil engineering team, PSI also supported the reconfiguration of roadway geometry and bus access routes, improving circulation and transit operations directly in front of Union Station.
This project reflects PSI’s expertise in complex urban traffic design, multi-agency coordination, and infrastructure modernization in federally significant areas.
