NCHRP: Enhancing Traffic Signal Management with ATSPM and Smart Infrastructure

Precision Systems, Inc. (PSI) is supporting the ongoing, two-year NCHRP 07-32 research project, which is developing a national implementation guide for Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measurement (ATSPM) systems. The guide will help transportation agencies modernize traffic signal operations through scalable, transferable tools that integrate with Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) and other emerging smart infrastructure technologies.

Now in its first year, PSI has contributed to foundational project phases, including survey development, stakeholder engagement, technical reviews, and data analysis. The team helped produce three interim reports and supported the execution of key methodologies for managing high-resolution traffic signal data. PSI will continue providing technical expertise as the project moves toward final deliverables—advancing national goals in traffic signal modernization, data-driven performance management, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
